Man accused in child porn bust appears in court

Mark Steven Speltz, 36, of La Crescent appeared in Houston County district court Tuesday morning, April 16, for a rule 8 hearing.
He has been charged with six counts of possession of pornographic work involving minors. The charges stem from an undercover FBI investigation of an internet group called Candyman which was sharing child pornography.
A rule 8 hearing allows Speltz to enter a plea or to request an omnibus hearing to question how the evidence was attained.
Speltz requested an omnibus hearing. A date for it has not yet been set.
Speltz is represented by Ross Phelps.
