Itís not possible to make reservations yet, but the Four Seasons Community Center may get its start as early as next month.

According to Paul Fisch, who sits on the executive building committee, bids will be solicited this month for the construction of the community center.

The architect for the project is nearly done with the final plan, and the specifications for the mechanical work are also nearing completion.

According to Fisch, invitations to bid will be issued in mid-April. Preference will be given to local contractors whenever possible, he said.

The committee hopes to have bids back by the first week of May, and make its awards by May 10.

Once the bids are awarded, a ground-breaking ceremony is planned for late May.

The effort to build a community center began when Helen Fruechte of Caledonia pledged $100,000 towards the project. An executive committee was organized and volunteer sub-committees were formed to promote the project. Merchants Bank of Caledonia was stepped forward as another major benefactor and donated $100,000 for the Sprague Room, a large meeting room with a fireplace.

To date, just over $1 million has been received in donations and pledges.

There are currently committees working on the kitchen design and interior furnishings. The kitchen will be fully-equipped with commercial grade appliances, dishes, flatware and glassware.

Committee members are Paul Fisch, Laurel Rusert, Erma Klug, Bev Bauer, Bob Burns, Tom Danielson, and Todd Roesler.
