Abduction attempt was false alarmPosted: 4/9/02 An incident that occurred between a nine-year-old male and an adult male Tuesday, April 2, was not an abduction or attempted abduction. The incident happened in the city of Spring Grove at about 4:45 p.m. when the boy was walking home from a school activity. The boy was approached the adult male who requested his assistance for a problem with his vehicle. Not knowing the man, the child ran away. According to the Spring Grove Police Department, with the investigation now complete, it appears the juvenile acted according to what he believed the situation was, but there was a misunderstanding. There was no attempt to perform any type of abduction, and there will be no charges filed in this matter. Spring Grove Police Chief Paul Folz said, ìThe Spring Grove Police Department commends the juvenile for his alertness and appropriate action he took to make himself safe. This is also a reminder to all parents to take the time to talk to their children about them having contact with strangers and the appropriate measures to keep them safe.î ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
