Board closes meeting, releases statement on Lingen's evaluation

ISD #299 released a statement Monday night, April 8, at its school board retreat concerning a performance evaluation of District Superintendent Percy Lingen.

The evaluation was held during a closed meeting Tuesday night, April 2, from 10:15 p.m. to 12:20 a.m.

Board Chair Cheryl Whitesitt read a statement concerning the review, ìAs a result of that review, strengths were noted and areas of improvement defined. The board developed goals regarding communication and leadership.î

According to Minnesota Statute 13D.05 subd. 3 (b), ìA public body may close a meeting to evaluate the performance of an individual who is subject to its authority... At its next open meeting, the public body shall summarize its conclusions regarding the evaluation.î

The board did not summarize any of the strengths that were noted in her review nor did they specify what areas of Lingenís performance needed improvement.

At its Tuesday, April 2, board meeting, the board closed the meeting to discuss negotiation strategy for certified staff.
