Police nab young suspects

James and Joni Twite, of 316 North Pine Street, Caledonia came home Wednesday, night August 14, at 5:29 p.m. to find two young burglars in their home.

The two juvenile males, ages 9 and 10, were in the house when they arrived home. It was believed and later confirmed that they had taken approximately $6 in coins. The money was later recovered.

On Monday, August 12 at 5:08 p.m., Jeri Virock reported the theft of their red wheelbarrow in Houston on Jackson Street.

On Monday, August 12, Greg Boldt called to report that someone had broken into his granary at the farm on Looney Valley Road. Nothing taken. There was no information on how the break-in occurred.

On Tuesday, August 13, Matt Hendel of Gap Drive, Caledonia reported the theft of his 250-300 pound Holstein calf from the calf hut at his residence. The calf was mostly black with a USDA identification tag #1597. There were no tracks found because the rain had washed them away.

On Thursday, August 15, John Beckman of Houston reported the theft of his three day old Angus/Holstein mix bull calf. It weighed 150-175 pounds.

On Monday, August 18, Allen Fitting of Houston reported the theft of his 8'x12' American flag that he used for the Blue Grass Festival. Lights were on the flag, which was valued at $175. He said he would like to meet whoever took it.

On Saturday, August 17, Edward Gray of Caledonia reported thesome pork loins were taken out of his truck as it was parked at Texaco on State Hwy. 16.

Vandalism

On Monday, August 18, Louie Peterson of Caledonia on CSAH #5 reported the vandalism of his new mailbox. It is the second time it has happened.

On Thursday, August 15, Country Rose Flowers in Caledonia reported damage to their bench outside the store. It appears someone sat on it and broke it.
