DWI arrests keep officers busyPosted: 8/27/02 By Shannon McKinney Law enforcement authorities made six arrests for driving while intoxicated (DWI) over a three day period last week. A Caledonia woman was arrested for DWI on Thursday, August 22 at 10:06 p.m. while driving on CSAH 18 near Brownsville. On Friday, August 23, at 9:34 p.m., a 43-year female from Houston was ticketed for DWI. She was pulled over by police on State Hwy. 76 and Perkins Valley and had a blood alcohol concentration of .27. She posted bail and was released to a responsible party. At 1:14 a.m. Saturday, a 30 year-old La Crescent woman was transported to Rochester detox when she was tested for a blood alcohol concentration of .20. She was stopped by police at Ninth and Oak Streets in La Crescent. She was cited for third degree DWI. A 41-year-old Hokah man was ticketed for DWI Saturday after being pulled over by police at 1:26 a.m. on Butterfield Valley Road. He had a blood alcohol concentration of .15. At 3:16 a.m. Saturday, a 20-year-old Onalaska female was cited for underage consumption while on State Hwy. 26. It was unclear if she was driving the vehicle at the time. On Saturday, August 24, at 5:42 a.m., a 32-year-old La Crosse man was pulled over by police at Redwood East and booked into the Houston County Jail for DWI. He had a blood alcohol concentration of .14. Residents report thefts On Thursday, August 22, Jim Finch reported a trailer missing from his weekend home in Brownsville. On Monday, August 19, Brian Brown of the Ferndale Country Club reported the theft of two sets of golf clubs belonging to Gary Wade of Rushford and Steve Olson of Peterson. On Tuesday, August 20, Marilyn Jore of Caledonia reported the theft of her purse from her car while it was parked outside the Historical Society Museum. The purse contained $60 in cash and other personal items.
Vandalism On Tuesday, August 20, Holly Felten reported that someone had vandalized her mailbox on Hwy. 76. On Tuesday, August 20, Heather Michelsen of South Ramsey Street in Caledonia reported finding a scratch on the front of her car. Richard Penrose of E. Madison St. in Caledonia reported that some vandals had done damage to his driveway by possibly taking a hammer and knocking it on the concrete. The vandalism occurred over the night on Saturday, August 17. On Sunday, August 25, William Niebling reported vandalism done to portable and cement trap houses at the State Sportsmenís Club in La Crescent. An estimate for damage costs was not available. On Sunday, August 25, Earl Grenier of South Grant Street in Houston reported vandalism to his wifeís vehicle. On Sunday, August 25, Nicholas Peterson of West Caledonia reported vandalism to his bike. The tires and handle grips had been slashed, and the seat damaged. The vandalism occurred while it was parked between the residence and the garage. Man tests positive for THC On Sunday, August 25, an inmate at the Houston County jail tested positive for THC, the chemical in marijuana, after returning from a weekend furlough.
