Andrew Miller joins Caledonia Argus staffPosted: 8/27/02 My name is Andrew Miller and I am the new staff reporter at The Caledonia Argus. I will be covering news and sports, in addition to editing the sports section. Iíll be filling in for Shannon McKinney, who will be taking a year off after her baby arrives. Originally from the Twin Cities, I moved to Caledonia just last week, and I am very much enthralled with the town- for one, I can step into the street without the 100% assurance that Iíll either be honked at or run overÖ Very nice. I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris, where I studied English, philosophy, and sociology. Morris is a bit larger than Caledonia, and the university presence adds an element to small-town life there that can at times be very interesting. It is milieu that brings together retired farmers and twenty-something liberal arts students, and the result is often part comic, part confusing for both parties involved. At present, I am a writer for Caustic Truths, a Canadian music magazine. This job has allowed me the opportunity to meet and interview all sorts of characters, characters my mother would most certainly disapprove of- rock stars, record label executives, and a sundry assortment of other music industry types. I think writing for The Argus will definitely be a change of pace- for one, I think Iíll be writing fewer stories featuring people with nose piercings, purple hair, and expletives tattooed on their arms. My mother will be so proud! I look forward to learning more about the community here and I hope to get to know all of you better in the coming months. Feel free to stop by The Argus during the week and say ěhello.î ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
