Nathan Sherry

Nathan Albert Sherry, 51, of Grand Junction, CO, and formerly of Spring Grove, died suddenly on Thursday, August 22, 2002, in Colorado. He was born July 8, 1951, in La Crosse, WI, to Albert and Ruth (Iverson) Sherry. Except for four years in Colorado, he was a lifelong Spring Grove and Houston resident and was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church of Blackhammer, rural Spring Grove. Nathan was a rural youth ambassador to Washington, D.C, graduated from Houston High School and Winona Technical College and was in the United States Navy in the SeaBees Corp, with tour of duty including Spain, Italy and Cuba. He had been working as a private carpenter.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth of Houston; three brothers, Ron Sherry, Onalaska, WI, Sever (Peggy) Sherry, and Wayne Sherry, Lawrence, MI; four sisters, Ruth (Alden) Johnsrud and Jan (Dennis) Rud, Spring Grove, Diane (Del) Van Emmerik, Maple Grove, and Karen (Larry) Nelson, Woodlake, MN; also several nieces, nephews, great-nieces /nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 5-7 pm, at the Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove. There will be a military graveside service on Friday at 11 am at the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston with Pastor Lane Zafke officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the charity of the donors choice.
