Lloyd Tessmer

Lloyd W. Tessmer, 82, of Houston, MN and formerly of La Crescent died on Sunday, August 4, 2002, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston following a lingering illness. He was born on June 10, 1920, in Spring Valley, to Arthur A. and Mildred (Thayer) Tessmer. Lloyd was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Brownsville Veteranís of Foreign Wars Post 6801. He married Marie V. Servais on September 28, 1957 in Arcadia, WI. Marie passed away on December 11, 1995.

Lloyd had worked at Allis Chalmers of La Crosse, at the La Crosse Cooler Co. and retired from Tessmer Refrigeration. Following his retirement he worked part-time at Bauerís Market and Greenhouse in La Crescent.

He is survived by two sisters, Alice Marie (John) Mullen, Harlingen, TX, and Roberta Miller, La Crescent; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law, LuEllen Rothering, Arcadia, WI.

In addition to his wife, Marie, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Lloyd will be sadly missed by the John Bauer family and all who knew him. He will be especially missed by the friends he made while a resident of the Valley View Nursing Home.

Services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 10 am, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent, with the Rev. Jean Kloss officiating. Graveside services with miliary honors by American Legion Post 17, Arcadia, WI, will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday in the Glencoe Lutheran Cemetery, Arcadia. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm and again on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the charity of the donorís preference.
