Peter Fokema

Peter Fokema, 96, of Caledonia, died Sunday, December 15, 2002, at his home. He was born September 8, 1906, in Pine Creek, rural La Crescent, to Claus and Katheryn (Postum) Fokema. Peter is a graduate of La Crescent High School. On June 18, 1938, he married Loreen Gerdes at the United Methodist Church, La Crescent. They farmed in La Crescent until 1947 when they moved to Union township, rural Caledonia, where they farmed for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Loreen of Caledonia; one daughter, Miriam (Rev. Kenneth) Rogers of Rochester; one son, Marvin (Shirley) Fokema, Sparta, WI; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Tillie Newhouse; and one brother, John Fokema.

Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, at the United Methodist Church, Caledonia, with Pastor Tony Fink officiating. Burial will be Oakland Cemetery, Dresbach. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
