Armin Korthauer

Armin G. Korthauer, 74, of Houston, MN, died Sunday, December 15, 2002, at St. Anne Extended Care in Winona. Armin was born on March 20, 1928, in Verdi to August J. and Verona (Schulze) Korthauer. At the age of 8 he and his family moved to Caledonia. Armin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On September 8, 1956, he married Donna Allen at the Lewis Valley Lutheran Church in Holmen, WI. Armin was a farmer as well as being employed at C.B.S. Homes in La Crescent and Gundersen Lutheranís maintenance department in La Crosse, WI. He was a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, where he had worked as a maintenance worker for the last 13 years. His passion included spending time with his family and caring for his tree farm.

Armin is survived by his wife, Donna; five children: Richard (Margaret) Korthauer, Mondovi, WI, Dale (Carol Rae) Korthauer, Hayfield, Gary (Karen) Korthauer, Savage, Janet (Tom) Freudenstein, Shakopee, and Carol (Mark) Polodna, Winona; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Robert (June) Korthauer, Rosemount; four sisters: Dorothy (Orval) Sorum, Winona, Lora Ann (Art) Kroening, Baldwin, WI, Mary (Matthew) Wadium, LaCrosse, and Alice (Dewey) Mueller, Grand Island, Fla.; and mother-in-law, Mildred Allen of Holmen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Estella.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Arnet - Sheldon American Legion Post of Houston. Private family burial has been scheduled. Friends may call from 4-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Friends of Houston Public Library or to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
