Dorothy Kulas

Dorothy M. Kulas, 88, died Friday, December 13, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston, MN. A memorial service will be held in June in Athens, when her cremains will be buried at the Athens Cemetery. The former Dorothy Kercher was born August 7, 1914 in Akron, IN, to the late Charles and Spray (McBride) Kercher. She graduated from Athens High School and attended Memorial School of Nursing in Wausau. She worked in the clerical field in St. Paul and Wausau and then worked in the financial department of General Telephone in Madison, retiring in 1980. She was married to Louis Kulas, who preceded her in death in December 1997. They were residents of rural Houston and later the Heritage Court Assisted Living Facility.

Survivors include a son, Brian (Dona) of Medford; three sisters, Eloise (Ernest) Wisner of Westmont, IL, Lillian (Clarence) Kundert of Evansville, IN, Janet (Harlan) Kickhoefer of Hot Springs, AR.; a brother, Charles (Helen) of Albuquerque, NM.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Anderson and Velma Anklam.
