Lillie Halvorson

Lillie Cecelia Irene Halvorson, 98, of Spring Grove, died Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. She was born May 30, 1904, in Tawney, MN, to Tollef and Amelia (Hallum) Halvorson. She never married. She had lived in Spring Grove since 1969 and had lived in Washington, DC, Chicago, IL, and had moved to Rushford as a little girl. She was a graduate of Rushford High School and had attended business college. Lillie worked for the United States Government Civil Service in the field of bookkeeping.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Neither Lillie nor her sister, Hilda, ever had a driverís license or owned a car, yet they traveled the entire United States. Lillie enjoyed the senior activities in Spring Grove.

Survivors include her nephew, Huntley Halvorson, Jr, Loudon, New Hampshire; one niece, Holly Halvorson, Kenosha, WI; five great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Huntley Halvorson in 1982 and a sister Hilda Halvorson, in 1993.

Services were held Tuesday, November 26, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with burial in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery in Rushford. Pastor Zane Anderson officiated. Friends called on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
