Zachary Pupp of East Lincoln Street in Houston contacted Caledonia Police to report that $450 in cash was stolen from his apartment while he was visiting his parents over the Thanksgiving weekend.

When he arrived home from his parentsí house, he noticed that the door between the laundry area of the building and the kitchen of his apartment had been kicked in. An initial survey of the apartment revealed no signs of theft or vandalism, but it was later discovered that cash kept in his bedroom had been taken. That no other valuables had been taken led him to believe that whoever took the money was someone familiar with the apartment, and that the thieves may have been guests heíd invited to his apartment earlier that week, people heíd had an altercation with but with whom heíd hoped to make amends.

An upstairs neighbor to Pupp mentioned that on the night of November 29 sheíd heard noises downstairs, but hadnít seen anyone. The case is still under investigation.

Hit and run at Lutheran Home

Suspect sought in hay fire

Two round bales caught fire at the farm of Gregg Meiners in Eitzen, and based on Meinersí testimony, authorities have reason to believe that someone intentionally set the bales on fire. Meiners extinguished the blaze himself, but requested that a Houston County deputy look into the matter. Messages left on his answering machine, Meiners indicated, may indicate that someone intended to set the fire. No further information was available.
