Selma Trehus

Selma Luella Trehus, 89, of Spring Grove, died Saturday, February 9, 2002, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. She was born January 12, 1913, in Winneshiek County, IA, to Odolf and Julia (Storlie) Ganrude.

She attended rural school and was a lifelong area resident. On September 5, 1931, she married Norman Trehus in Spring Grove and the couple farmed in Wilmington Township of rural Spring Grove.

Selma was a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church and its womens groups and she loved flowers.

Survivors include her husband; one son, David (Donna) Trehus, Spring Grove; four daughters, Beverly (Jerald) Clauson, Spring Grove, Kathryn (Ozzie) Gilbertson, Lincoln, Nebraska, Darlene (Maynerd) Rauk, Evansville, WI, and Sharon (Ron) Welper, Waterloo, IA; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gilma Onsgard, Spring Grove and Gladys Larson, Littleton, CO.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell, Henry and Vernon; and two sisters, Olga and Corrine.

Services were held Tuesday, February 12, 11 am, at Wilmington Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Elizabeth K. Stempinski officiated. Friends called Tuesday from 9-11 am at the church only, there was no visitation at the funeral home.

Roble Funeral Service, Spring Grove was in charge of arrangements.
