A Spring Grove man, Todd Eric Krogstad, 38, was sentenced in District Court to 90 days in jail for third degree assault, a felony.

The incident occurred on July 11, 2001 at 3:25 a.m. when police responded a 911 call in Caledonia. Dispatcher Mark Olson was first on the scene and heard fighting and yelling.

The woman spent two days in the intensive care unit at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center with an injury to her liver. She also suffered bruises about the face and abdomen.

The victim initially denied being assaulted, and later stated that Krogstad had broken into her home and assaulted her.

Krogstad was also ordered to pay about $8,000 for medical bills for the victim.
