Elva R. Maser, 76, of Caledonia, died Saturday, January 12, 2002, at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born March 27, 1925, in Janesville to Walter and Mabel ìBlancheî (Webb) Truman. On August 26, 1943 she married Walter Maser in Faribault. Elva and Walter lived in Northfield for 19 years before purchasing Schmitz Dry Cleaners in Caledonia in 1965. They changed the name to Walts Cleaners and operated the business until 1990 when they sold it to their daughter, Robin. On July 9, 2000, Walter preceded Elva in death. Elva enjoyed dancing, playing bingo and solitaire, and working on ìseek-a-wordî puzzles. She also enjoyed making sequin calenders which she gave to each member of their family each year. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Royce) Tewes and Robin Maser, both of Caledonia; two adopted daughters, Darlyne (Jerome) Peterson and Betty (Al) Behling, both of Northfield; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Elva was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in infancy, an adopted daughter, La Vanna, a grandson, Todd Flaten, and five brothers. Services are today, Wednesday, January 16, 2 pm, at the United Methodist Church, Caledonia with Pastor Tony Fink officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends called at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, on Tuesday from 5-8 pm and at the church on Wednesday from 1 pm until the time of service. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
