Posted 1/2/02 Melinda KohlmeierMelinda C. Kohlmeier, 86, of Caledonia, and formerly of Freeburg, MN, died Friday, December 21, 2001 at The Lutheran Home/Caledonia. She was born February 13, 1915 in Crooked Creek Township, MN, to Herman and Emma (Meyer) Schuldt. On December 6, 1939, Melinda married Elmer Kohlmeier at Peace Ev. Church in Crooked Creek Township and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1996. Together they lived and farmed in various places before making their home in Freeburg. Melinda also worked as janitor for the Freeburg school for many years. She enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, baking and sewing. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Glenn) Bunge, Eitzen, Lorrie Kohlmeier, Woodbridge, VA; three sons, Orvis (Janet Kohlmeier), Hokah, Larry Kohlmeier, Freeburg, John (Diane) Kohlmeier, Freeburg; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, her twin sister, Orinda Stehr, Caledonia, Vernetta (Pete) Niedfeldt, Bangor, WI, Wilma (Harry) Wallen, Onalaska, WI; a brother, Wilbert (Margaret) Schuldt, Freeburg; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Schuldt, Boscobel, WI. In addition to her husband, Melinda was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alton and Harold Schuldt. Services were Thursday, December 27 at 2 pm at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia with Rev. Tom Schultz officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends called at the church on Thursday from 1 pm until the time of service. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, was in charge of arrangements. |
