George Lister

George L. Lister, 83, of Hokah, MN, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at the La Crescent Healthcare Center. He was born on April 11, 1918 in Baltimore, MD, to Howard and Veronica (Pietrzak) Lister. In his early years George had worked in construction as an iron worker in the Baltimore area. He married Bertha Armiger and together they had six children.

He later married Pauline ìPatî Holman and together they moved to Hokah in the early 1980ís. In 1989 they moved to rural Black River Falls, WI, where they worked as caretakers of the Lost Falls Resort for two years until his wifeís death in January of 1990. He then returned to Hokah where he has resided since. George loved to collect and deliver the mail to his friends and fellow apartment residents in Hokah in exchange for cookies and pies. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

George is survived by six children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bertha and his second wife Pat, along with a son.

In following Georgeís wishes there were no formal public services. Burial took place in the Irving Cemetery, rural Black River Falls. Memorials may be directed in Georgeís name to the Salvation Army. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent handled the arrangements.
