Jared Hammell
Jared Joseph Hammell, 17, of Chatfield, died Tuesday, January 1, 2002, as the result of a one-car accident near Chatfield.
He was born July 24, 1984, in Rochester to Bernard and June Hammell of Chatfield. An 11th grader at Chosen Valley High School, he was active in wrestling, was a peer helper and a member of FFA. He worked for Hammell Equipment Inc. of Chatfield.
In addition to his parents, survivors include two brothers, Lucas and Brandon, both at home; maternal grandmother, Carol Gavin of Caledonia; and paternal grandparents Walter and Betty Hammell of Caledonia.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather.
Services were held Friday, January 4, 2:30 pm, at St. Maryís Catholic Church in Chatfield with the Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield. Friends called from 4-9 pm Thursday with a prayer service at 9 pm and 8 am to 1 pm Friday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield.
