Lee files for third term as sheriff

Posted: 1/8/02

Sheriff Mike Lee has announced that he will seek a third term as county sheriff.

Lee, 54, is a 20-year veteran of the Houston County Sheriffís Department and began his career there as a patrol deputy. He has also served two terms as a district director on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Sheriffís Association.

Sheriff Lee said he is proud of the accomplishments of his department during his two terms as sheriff. Houston County has one of the finest enhanced 911 systems in the state, he said, and the county jail, despite its age, has received 100 percent inspection ratings from the Department of Corrections.

ìServing the people of Houston County as Sheriff for the last seven years has been very rewarding for me,î said Lee. ìIf re-elected, I will continue my policy of consistent improvement to the sheriffís office through better training and equipment to serve county residents and keep Houston County a safe place to live and to raise our families.î

Filing for the positions of sheriff, auditor, treasurer, recorder, county attorney, and the commissioner seats held by Kevin Kelleher (District 2) and David Corcoran (District 4) opens in July.
