Three escape harm in weekend accidentPosted: 7/16/02 By Shannon McKinney Anna Bulman, 16, of Caledonia sustained only minor injuries when the vehicle she was driving overturned down an embankment. The single vehicle accident occurred Sunday, July 14, at 10:29 a.m. when Bulman was traveling southeast on CSAH 5. According to the accident report, the roadway is made of crushed rock. When driving around a corner, Bulman lost control of the vehicle and skidded around the corner. When she over corrected the steering, the vehicle went over a steep embankment on the left side and overturned in the ditch. Bulman suffered small lacerations to her leg due to the glass windows breaking. Also in the vehicle, but not suffering any injuries were Thomas Bulman, 9, and Paul Bulman, 14. Everyone was wearing a seat belt. Man arrested for DWI taken to the hospital A man who was arrested for a DWI over the weekend was eventually taken to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center after he made suicide attempts while being booked into the Houston County jail. The Waukon man was arrested on State Hwy. 44 and CSAH 33 on Sunday, July 14, at 1:35 a.m. by the Spring Grove Police Department. He had been combative and belligerent while being arrested and also while being booked into jail. He was taken to the hospital, though, when he stabbed himself in the stomach with a pencil. Car reported stolen On Monday, July 15, Caledonia Rental reported the theft of one of its rental cars, a 1997 Chevy Lumina, when it was not returned on Saturday, July 13 at noon. Vandalism On Thursday, July 12, Rick Sime of Caledonia Drugs reported that there was damage done to their pop machines in front of the store. One of the buttons on the machine was broken. He advised that the other day similar damage was done to another machines. Four mailboxes were reported damaged over the weekend.
