Donald Rask

Donald L. Rask, 77, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. He was born September 10, 1924 in Caledonia, to Carl and Anna (Haagenson) Rask. Donald farmed and then purchased his own truck and hauled livestock. On June 21, 1958, he married Jacquelyn Schaller at Peace United Church of Christ, Crooked Creek.

Don was employed by Mansfield Inc. in Spring Grove. He then drove truck for Wiebke Brothers and Caledonia Haulers for many years before retiring on February 15, 1993. Don enjoyed fishing and vegetable gardening. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn; two daughters, Nancy Rask and Carol (Paul) Schansberg; two sons, David (Brenda) and Darryl (Stephanie), all of Caledonia; nine grandchildren; a sister, Alvina Rask of Caledonia; two brothers, Orville (Elna) Rask of Caledonia, and Raymond (Liela) Rask of La Crescent; his father and mother-in-law; William and Blanche Schaller of Freeburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Berdella Lien, Clarise Lien, Dolores Rask and Gladys Kuecker.

Services were held Saturday, July 20, at 2 pm from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Elizabeth Stempinski officiated. Burial was in Wilmington Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends called at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, on Friday from 5-8 pm and at the church on Saturday from 1 pm until the time of service.
