Alvin Mohwinkle

Alvin George Mohwinkle, 82, of Dorchester, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove, MN. He was born March 1, 1920, in Rossville, IA, to August and Eliza (Long) Mohwinkle. He attended Dorchester Public School and was a lifelong area resident. On March 28, 1948, he married Mildred (Linde) Hahn and the couple farmed in Waterloo Township.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dorchester until it closed. Alvin enjoyed collecting and restoring clocks and also collecting coins.

He is survived by his wife of Dorchester; one son, Edward Arland (Linda) Hahn of Dorchester; two brothers, Dale (Mary) Mohwinkle, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Milton Mohwinkle, Topeka, KS; and one sister-in-law, Helen Mohwinkle, Waukon, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Delton and August, two sisters, Rozelia Hefte and Dorothy Burke, one sister-in-law, Kate Mohwinkle and one brother-in-law, Garland Linde.

Services were held Monday at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church of Caledonia with burial in the Methodist Cemetery in Dorchester. Pastor Lora Sturm officiated. Friends called Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
