Mayme Waters

Mayme Ann Waters, 93, of New Albin, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Veteranís Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. She was born November 6, 1908, in Allamakee County, IA, to Fred and Bertha (Meyer) King. She attended rural school in New Albin and was a lifelong area resident. On February 14, 1941, she married Vince Waters, he died December 23, 1983. The couple farmed in Iowa Township until retiring and moving to New Albin in 1970.

She was a member of St. Peterís United Church of Christ in New Albin. Mayme enjoyed sewing, playing cards, beating people at checkers, volunteering at Thornton Manor in Lansing, IA, and spending time with her cat, Bootsie.

Mayme is survived by sons, Larry and his friend Jill, and Bob and his wife, Phyllis; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Leo King and her sister, Lydia Krueger.

Services were held Friday, 2 pm, at St. Peterís United Church of Christ in New Albin with burial in the city cemetery. Pastor William Reese officiated. Friends called Thursday from 5-8 pm at the New Albin Funeral Chapel and at the church on Friday from 1-2 pm.

Roble Funeral Service in Spring Grove was in charge of arrangements.
