Posted: 7/3/02 Mabel HoltenMabel Henrietta Holten, 83, of Spring Grove, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. She was born July 27, 1918, in rural Spring Grove to Anton and Clara (Sivesin) Rosendahl. She was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident and attended rural schools. On March 20, 1937, she married Albert Holten and he died on April 20, 1975. The couple farmed in Wilmington Township, rural Spring Grove. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and its womenís groups, Spring Groveís Sons of Norway group and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered at Tweeten Health Services nursing home. Mabel is survived by three sons: Richard (Florene) Holten, Cresco, IA, Charles (Judy) Holten and David Holten, all of Spring Grove; four daughters: Marian Beardmore, La Crosse, WI, Idella (Eugene) Papenfus, Holmen, WI, Doris (Glen) Thomas, Fountain, and Linda Sanders, Waukon, IA; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Art (Margaret) Rosendahl, Hokah, Norman Rosendahl, Waukon, and Charles (Shirley) Rosendahl, La Crescent; two sisters: Thelma Beardmore, Dorchester, IA and Stella Burmester, New Albin; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Albert, she was preceded in death by her infant son; three brothers, Bennie, Eddie and James Rosendahl; two sisters, Olga Evenmoe and Verna Soride; one brother-in-law, Clifford Soride; three sisters-in-law, Alpha, Mary and Lois Rosendahl; an infant grandson; one great-granddaughter, Mary Claire Beardmore; and two sons-in-law, Romaine Beardmore and Jerome Sanders. Services were Saturday, June 29, at 10:30 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Jim Arends officiated.
