Fatal crash claims three

A one car accident Sunday afternoon near Caledonia claimed three lives. Among the victims were a father and son from Spring Grove.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Steven Bulman, 51, of Spring Grove, was driving east of the junction of State Hwys. 44 and 76, when he crossed into the westbound lane, lost control, entered the ditch and rolled several times.

Bulman died at the scene. His son, Travis, 13, who had been seated in the back seat and was thrown from the vehicle, died Sunday at a La Crosse hospital. William (Billy) Bubbers, 20, Caledonia, who was also seated in the back and thrown from the car, was airlifted and died at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center at 12:07 a.m. Monday, June 10. The vehicle, a 1972 Mustang Cobra, was not equipped with seat belts in the back.

Abby Bulman, 18, daughter of Steve, was released from Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center on Monday. She and her father were seated in the front and were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Responding to the scene were the Houston County Sheriffís Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, MedLink helicopter, Mayo One helicopter, The Caledonia Ambulance Service, the Caledonia Fire Department and the Caledonia Police Department.
