Don Anderson celebrated a double birthday on Saturday, June 1, 2002, when he was born into heaven. This was also the day, in 1934, Earle and Leona (Norling) Anderson celebrated his birth in Fargo, ND. He grew up in rural Lisbon, ND, served in the Navy, graduated from Moorhead State College and married Gloria Moen on September 3, 1955. They had three children, Paul (Mary), Minneapolis, Julie, Sierra Madre, CA, and Michael (Grace), Orlando, FL, who survive him. After working many diverse jobs he realized his dream in 1970 and created a very successful family campground in Caledonia called DunRominí Park. After Gloriaís death, Don married Carol Coughlin of Winona on October 9, 1993, and lovingly helped raise her daughter, Erin. Donís death also leaves two step-children, Patrick and Laurie as well as two brothers, Tom, Viera, FL and Gary, Rochester and a sister, Mary (Paul) Friedman, Clinton, CT. Over the 26 years as owner of DunRominí Park, some of Donís favorite times were spent playing games with the children in the morning and driving tractor hayrides at 5 pm. He also had served on the board of the MN Association of Campground Owners, Historic Bluff Country and was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church. After retiring in 1999, Don and Carol established Walnut Haven, a tree farm in Dakota, MN. There he also restored Ferguson tractors, belonging to the Ferguson Club of England and the newly formed Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America. Don will be remembered as a loving husband, father and beloved friend to many people who camped or met him traveling. Visitation was at the Caledonia United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 8, from 1-2 pm followed by a memorial service. Dickinson Family Funeral Homes and Crematory was in charge of arrangements. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
