Randy Shefelbine announces candidacyPosted: 5/7/02 Randy Shefelbine, a deputy with the Houston County Sheriffís office, has announced that he will intend to file for the office of sheriff. A 24-year veteran of the department, Shefelbine, 46, started his career as a dispatcher and advanced to the civil processing department. He later became a deputy sheriff, and was voted Houston County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by his peers. Shefelbine has experience working as an undercover narcotics officer with the Southeast Minnesota Drug Task Force and was in charge of the Houston County Drug Task Force. ìIn the years that I have worked for the county I felt that I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of the people of the county and I would be proud to serve them as sheriff,î said Shefelbine. ìI feel that in the last few years the position of sheriff has been out of touch with the needs of the community.î If elected, Shefelbine said he would address the problems not now being addressed, such as the growing drug problem. Shefelbine resides in Caledonia with his wife, Cindy, and their four children. ìI feel that Houston County is one of the finest places in Minnesota to raise a family and I promise as sheriff that I will continue to keep the county safe and a proud place to live in,î said Shefelbine. Filing opens July 2. Sheriff Mike Lee has announced his intention to run for reelection. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
