Kids pay tribute to their special mothers

Moms might be a little surprised to find out what their children like best about them.

The Argus decided to find out what kids thought. A sampling of students from Caledonia Area Elementary, St. Johnís and St. Maryís elementary schools were asked two questions: ìWhat do you like best about your mom?î and ìIf you could get her anything in the world for Motherís Day, what would it be?î

Here are their answers.

Willie Cordes, a second grader at Caledonia Elementary, said, ìShe cuts my hair and does it the way I like it (which is short). I got my tooth pulled and she let me get two things.î

What would he get her? ìI would get a statue of herself to put in the front yard. I would probably get somebody to teach me (how to make it).î

Willieís mother is Nancy Cordes.

Jamie Schroeder, a fourth grader at St. Johnís, says the best thing about her mom is, ìSheís nice and spends a lot of time with me. She takes me places.î Jamieís mother is Elizabeth Schroeder.

Jamie would get her mother, ìA big swimming pool. She said she wants oneÖ I think.î

Emily Klug, a fourth grader at St. Maryís, said she liked it when her mom, Gerry Klug, bakes her chocolate chip cookies. ìShe usually bakes a lot, once a month,î explained Klug.

What would Klug get her mother if she could? ìThe Monkeys, she likes all of their songs,î she said.

Haley Lampert, a third grader at Caledonia Elementary, said, ìShe gets me clothing and all of the things I need and helps me when Iím sick.î

Haley would get her mother, ìSome jewelry. Probably something that had her name on it or looked like her.î

Haleyís mother is Karen Lampert.

Eric Houdek, a second grader at St. Johnís, said his mother, Kris Houdek, is a lot of fun. He added, ìI help her with chores a lot.î

If he could get her anything in the world, Eric would get her, ìFlowersÖ red roses.î

Third grader Caitlin Stoltz at St. Maryís said the best thing about her mom, Nicole Stoltz, is that sheís always there for her, ìShe cheers me on.î

If she could, sheíd get her mom the dog sheís always wanted, a golden retriever.

First grader Sean Kearney at Caledonia Elementary said his mom helps him when heís sick and, ìwhen I have to have my homework done,î he said.

He would get her, ì A new car.î

His mother is Erin Kearney.

Third grader Elyse Welscher at St. John's said her mom Diane Welscher, ìGets me a lot of stuff. She makes me food and plays a lot of games.î

Elyse would get her mother jewelry, ìShe wants this necklace with little beads in it.î

Fifth grader at St. Maryís, Cassie Gran, said the best thing about her mom, Gina Gran, is that sheís always there when she gets hurt.

If she could get her anything for Motherís Day it would be chickens. ìShe loves chickens. Our whole kitchen is filled with chickens,î she explained.

Fourth grader Jessica Cole, daughter of Sara Loomis, at Caledonia Elementary had a long list for what she liked about her mom. ìShe cooks for me, homemade pizza. Sometimes I make pancakes and eggs. She buys me stuff like toys, (just recently a new watch).î

Jessica would get her mother a new house if she could.

Third grader Caitlyn Krueger at St. John's says the thing that she likes best about her mom, Jody Krueger, is that she helps her with her homework.

If she could, Caitlyn would give her mom a diamond ring.

Taylor Schulte, a second grader at St. Maryís, said the best thing about her mom is that she takes care of her and her brothers. ìAt night sometimes she reads us stories,î she said.

Schulteís favorite story is a book titled ìThe Rain Babiesî.

If she could get her mom, Patty Schulte, anything it would be a book about her mom, ìWhat momís do for us,î she explained.

Jessica Olson, a first grader at Caledonia Elementary, explained what she liked best about her mom. ìWell, she likes me and and helps me with my homework,î she said.

If she could, she would get her some flowers, ìSomething like roses,î she said.

Her mother is Cindy Olson.

Kelby Paus, a kindergartner at St. John's, said his mom is really nice. ìShe buys me clothes and stuff,î he said.

If he could, he would buy his mom, Char Paus, a minivan.

Greg Lamb, a first grader at St. Maryís, said that he likes his mom, Kathryn Lamb, because she takes care of him. ìSheís always just there for me. She plays a lot of games.î

Chess is favorite. ìI know a few good moves,î he smiled.

If he could get his mom anything, he said, it would be another holy water fountain.

Justin Meyer, a fourth grader at St. Johnís, said he likes it when his mother, Laurie Meyer, gives him food to eat, ìa T-bone steak,î he said.

If he could get her anything for Motherís Day, it would be a diamond necklace.
