Bernice Abbott

Bernice Meyer Abbott, 46, of Dallas, TX, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002, after battling lung cancer for more than a year. She was buried on November 2 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, McKinney, TX.

She was born on June 17, 1956, to Milton and Ruth (nee Albrecht) Meyer at Caledonia, MN. She was baptized on June 21, 1956 and confirmed on June 21, 1970. Bernice was united in marriage to John Abbott on July 20, 1985, at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Richardson, TX.

Bernice was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Dallas, TX. She helped with the construction of the St. Matthew church edifice, served many years as a Sunday School teacher and summer Vacation Bible School teacher and directed and sang soprano in the St. Matthew Church Choir.

She is survived by her husband, John; four children: Sarah, Christa, Anna and David, all at home; her parents, Milton and Ruth Meyer, Caledonia; four sisters: Marie Meyer, Zumbrota, Grace (Gene) Schreyer, Mankato, Lois (Carlston) McKenzie, Brooklyn Park, and Dorothy (James) Abbott, Bellevue, WA; two brothers: John (Linda) Meyer, Stewartville, and Paul (Cheryl) Meyer, Caledonia. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents and by one aunt and one uncle.
