Nadine Joy Privet, 70, of Caledonia, died peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2002, at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, after a long battle with cancer. She was born May 25, 1932 in La Crosse to Everette and Josephine (Williams) Nelson. She married LaVern Privet on October 9, 1951 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Nadine and LaVern farmed on the family farm southwest of Caledonia before becoming the resident managers of Loretto Heritage Haven in Caledonia for the past 17 years. She was a member of St. Maryís Parish and its Council of Catholic women and she will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Nadine is survived by her husband, LaVern; one son, Dwight (Sandy); five daughters: Linda (Louie) Peterson, Beverly (Stan) Meyer, Lorene (Ben) Reining, Polly Betz (special friend Gary), and Shelby (Jerry) Steele, all of the Caledonia area; 19 grandchildren; her mother, Josephine Nelson, Caledonia; two brothers, Jack (Margaret) Nelson, Middle River, and Keith (Helen) Nelson, Onalaska, WI. She was preceded in death by her father, Everette Nelson and grandson Anthony Reining. Mass of Resurrection will be Monday, November 18, 10:30 a.m. at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Donald J. Schmitz will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia.
