Cookbook to help raise funds for Caledoniaís sesquicentennialPosted: 11/19/02 Finally, a chance to showcase that old family eggnog recipeñ in an effort to raise funds for Caledoniaís 2004 sesquicentennial celebration, a cookbook is being assembled and offered to the public. The Sesquicentennial Committee is accepting recipes until the end of the year; all are invited to submit. ìWe want this to be the whole community together and we want to incorporate both old and new recipes,î said Sesquicentennial Committee Co-chair Chris Klankowski. ìThereís a lot of mixture here in Caledoniañ Scottish, German, Irish, Norwegianñ and thereís a lot of old recipes. This cookbook will show the history of the area in a way.î The Sesquicentennial Committee is hoping to receive 600 recipes, and all types of submissions are welcome, including recipes for non-food items like soap. Those submitting recipes are encouraged to send a story with the recipe, perhaps some anecdote about how the recipe was acquired, or some special occasion on which the recipe was used. Forms for recipe submissions are available at Community First National Bank, Merchants Bank, Pine Cone Place, Shapes, Immanuel Lutheran Church, United Methodist Church, St. Maryís Church, and St. Johnís Church. The cookbook itself is a three-ring binder with a flip-back stand; the cover will be adorned with the winning design from the Sesquicentennial button contest. A tab section will be included in the cookbook with pictures of Caledonia, past and present. The cookbooks will go on sale in May 2003 and will be priced at $15. You may pre-order the cookbook at a price of $12, which can be paid at either Community First National Bank or Merchants Bank. The deadline for both recipe submissions and pre-orders is December 31, 2002. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
