A. Ellwood Swenson, 79, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at the Caledonia Lutheran Home. He was born January 18, 1923 in Caledonia, to Arvid and Dorothy (Findreng) Swenson. Ellwood lived his entire life in Houston and Fillmore counties, the last 18 years in Caledonia, most recently as a resident of The Lutheran Home. Ellwood will be remembered for his love of watching local basketball games and wrestling matches; attending local festivals, parades, fairs and selling buttons. Survivors include two brothers, Lloyd (Ramona) Swenson, Austin, and John (Anne) Swenson, Newport, WA; a sister-in-law, Alma Swenson, Spring Grove; a special niece, Evelyn (Joel) Johnson, Spring Grove; other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins. Ellwood was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Amos and Donald; and an infant sister, Dorothy Ann. Services will be Saturday, November 23, 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia with Rev. Rolf Storlie officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery, rural Houston. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
