Palma Danielson

Palma G. Danielson, 96, formerly of Wilmington township and Caledonia, MN, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Tweeten Health Services, Spring Grove, MN. She was born April 2, 1906, in Wilmington township, to Nels and Maria (Glasrud) Haugstad. Palma worked as a maid for the Sprague family and as a hired girl for the William Quinnel family, both in Caledonia. During this time, Palma met Martin Danielson and they were married on September 29, 1928 at the Wilmington Lutheran Church. Together they lived and farmed in Wilmington township until 1985 when they moved into an apartment in Caledonia. On December 30, 1993, Martin preceded Palma in death.

Palma was a life-long member of Wilmington Lutheran Church. She loved spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens and sharing her produce with others. Palma also enjoyed quilting, braiding and crocheting rugs and baking bread. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Marlene (Rodney) Meiners, Eitzen; two sons, Gale Danielson, Caledonia, and Stan Danielson, rural Galesville, WI; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Link of Caledonia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Danielson; four sisters and five brothers.

Services were Monday, November 4, 11 a.m. at Wilmington Lutheran Church with the Rev. Elizabeth Stempinski officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
