A warrant was issued for the arrest of La Crosse resident Mark Christensen after he failed to obey a court summons to appear for a pre-trial hearing on September 23. Christensen is charged with Felony Burglary after Houston County authorities connected him to a break-in at the home of Houston resident Mark Van Lin on February 11.

Van Lin reported that on February 11, an unknown person entered his familyís home and stole a 1959 Les Paul guitar valued at $2000, a Bose radio valued at $750, two Sony speakers valued at $1000, and a Burton-brand snowboard valued at $600.

Authorities traced Christensen to the crime after a La Crosse guitar store employee, familiar with Van Lin and his Les Paul guitar, contacted police to inform them that a man other than Van Lin was attempting to sell Van Linís guitar. The seller of the guitar informed police that that Christensen had given him the guitar to repay a debt. Further investigation led to Christensenís arrest.

Charged with Felony Burglary, Christensen plead not guilty on July 22. His jury trial is set for October 25.

Nerison charged with Felony Theft

Corey Nerison of La Crosse has been charged with Felony Theft and Motor Vehicle Use Without Consent after a tip from La Crosse Crime Stoppers connected him to the theft of a boat in Brownsville in July.

The Houston County Sheriffís Office received a report of a missing boat on July 15. The boat belonged to George Appleyard of Prescott, Wisconsin and had been stored behind the Shellhorn Bar in Brownsville.

An investigation led to the recovery of the boat and Nerisonís arrest. Nerison appeared in Houston County District Court on October 7. A trial date has yet to be set.
