Fr. Hugh Burns to give Parish Mission at St. Maryís Church

St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia, will be hosting Fr. Hugh Burns, O.P., who will preach a Parish Mission beginning with weekend Masses November 2-3. Fr. Burns is a noted preacher having given missions and retreats throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America. Many will remember him when he was here for a Lenten Mission in 2000.

After preaching at the weekend masses, Fr. Burns will give mission talks each evening at 7:30 p.m. beginning Sunday, November 3 through Wednesday, November 6. Father will also preach at a special noon time Mass celebrated Monday through Wednesday at 12:05 p.m.

The title of the Mission is: ìReligion With Two Feet on the Groundî. ìChristianity is about Reality; it is where God and humans meet. our religion is not an escape from reality; it plunges us directly into the nitty-gritty of everyday life and arms us with the secret to survival: the grace of a loving and merciful God.

In Jesus Christ, God became one of us--human, just as we are. He tasted our joys and felt our frustrations. He endured our pain and even our death. His life and words direct us through the maze of lifeís confusions, trials and challenges. His Resurrection pours out the power we need not only to survive, but to thrive and triumph!î
