Posted: 10/30/02 Harold MillerHarold L. ìBudî Miller, 91, of Caledonia, died Monday, October 21, 2002 at the Caledonia Lutheran Home. He was born August 19, 1911, in Gary, IN, to Milton and Myra (Olson) Miller. Harold was baptized in the Swedish Lutheran Church in Gary in 1911. He also is a 1928 graduate of Emerson High School in Gary. On April 9, 1932, Harold married Estella Ratonde in Gary. He owned and operated a grocery and meat market in Gary from 1932 until 1938. Harold then became employed with U.S. Steel in Gary and worked in various jobs including being in charge of shipping railroad rails. He then was promoted to General Foreman and held that position for many years until his retirement in 1966. Harold and Estella then moved to Caledonia and on September 13, 1916, Estella preceded Harold in death. Harold was a member of St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. He was a quiet, gentle man who had a very dignified manner. Survivors include a son, Charles H. (Karen) of Danville, IN; a sister-in-law, Anna Gstalder; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eva Peterson; and two brothers, Clifford and John Miller. Services were Thursday, October 24, at 11 a.m. from Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia with the Rev. Tom Schultz officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
