Ross Johnson
Ross Eugene Johnson, 88, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002, in Valley Baptist Medical Center, San Benito, TX. Ross was born December 10, 1913 in Colorado to Emory and Anna Johnson. Ross had lived in Des Moines and Stuart, IA, for many years. While in Iowa, Ross met and married Margaret on December 23, 1938. They were married for over 59 years. He had several businesses in Iowa until his retirement in 1980.
Ross was owner and operator for many years of Coast to Coast Hardware store in Caledonia. Ross and Margaret were winter visitors to the Valley, becoming permanent residents in San Benito in 1985 at Fun N Sun R.V. Park. Ross was a member of the Elks Lodge American Legion, Knight of Columbus and member of the Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church both in San Benito. He also served in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and his son, Mike.
Services were held Friday, October 18, at 11 a.m. in Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mont Meta Memorial Park.
