Houston man pleads guilty on meth charge

Jeffrey Strelow of Houston has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to ìpossession to distribute approximately 89 grams of actual methamphetamineî on July 25, 2002. In addition to the prison sentence, Strelow has forfeited $9514 found in his possession at the time of arrest.

Strelow and another man were indicted in December by a Federal Grand Jury in Minneapolis, after an investigation by the Houston County Sheriffís Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration uncovered two pounds of methamphetamine and over $20,000 in cash in the menís possession.

The 46-month sentence will begin September 30, when Strelow is to turn himself in to the Bureau of Prisons.


Teens plead guilty in car thefts

A 15-year old male and a 16-year old male from Houston pled guilty on July 25 to Felony Motor Vehicle Theft and Gross Misdemeanor Theft.

In February 2002, the Houston County Sheriffís Office recovered two vehicles stolen from Rushford and the Money Creek area. A full investigation in conjunction with the Rushford and Houston police departments lead to the arrest of the two juveniles in connection with the theft of five stolen vehicles. At the time of arrest, the teenagers were in possession of two snowmobiles stolen from Winona County.

Auto theft reported

Christian Cieminski of La Crescent reported the theft of his 1991 Pontiac 6000 on the morning of September 16. The vehicle is believed to have been stolen sometime the previous night. It is maroon in color and has Minnesota license plates DUX-715.
