Celia Ferris

Celia M. Ferris, 97, formerly of Fond du Lac, WI, died Sunday September 8, 2002 at Manorcare Healthservices. She was born on October 27, 1904 in Caledonia, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Guden Neu. On July 13, 1942 she married Kern Ferris in Alabama. He preceded her in death in 1976. Celia graduated from the Minneapolis Business College. Before her marriage she was employed at Duxbury and Flyn Law Offices in Caledonia and Northern States Power Company in La Crosse. Later she was employed at OíNeill Law Office in Maryland. She has resided in Scotsdale, AZ, Caledonia and since 1997 has been a resident of Fond du Lac. She was a member of Holy Family-St. Josephís Parish, Fond du Lac and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Caledonia. Celia had a very close relationship with her nieces and nephews and loved them all very much. She enjoyed playing the piano daily up into her 90s.

In addition to her husband, Celia was preceded in death by her parents; niece, Betty Ann English; nephew, William Solberg; and great-nephew, Timothy Solberg.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Shirley Solberg, Fond du Lac; Roger (Mary) Solberg, Fond du Lac; Gene (Fausta) Deterling, Orono; Marian Hogue, Dallas TX; niece-in-law, Dorothy Solberg, Wauwatosa, WI; dear sister-in-law Helen Hynes, Rochester; brother-in-law, Neil Ferris, Florida; great nieces and nephews; special friends, Lorraine and Mildred Schmitt, Fay and Margaret Gengler, all from Caledonia.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 21 from 9-10 a.m. at Holy Family-St. Josephís Parish. There will be a Memorial of Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family- St. Josephís Parish with Rev. Dennis Budka officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place Monday, September 30 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia.
