Houston FD gets FEMA grant

Congressman Gil Gutknecht is pleased to announce that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a grant worth $37,755 to the Houston Volunteer Fire Department.ÝThese FEMA funds cover fire operations and firefighter safety.Ý Eligible activities include training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment and personal protective equipment.

Congressman Gutknecht praised the hard work of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Chief Mike Olson and everyone involved securing this grant.Ý

ìChief Olson and his fellow firefighters work very hard to serve the residents of Houston,î Gutknecht said.Ý ìOf the more than 19,500 applications FEMA received from across the country, theirs was one of only 5,500 grants to be awarded.Ý We can all feel a little bit safer because of their hard work and dedication.î
