Thefts reported to policePosted: 9/3/02 by Andrew Miller A series of thefts in the past week were reported to law enforcement authorities. On Monday, August 26, a Caledonia woman filed a complaint with Caledonia police, reporting theft from her vehicle behind her place of employment on South Kingston St.. She claims that the break-ins have occurred five times, and an approximate total of $10 in loose bills and change, as well as four packs of cigarettes have been taken. A man reported theft from his vehicle between 10 p.m. and midnight on Sunday, August 25 in Hokah. $1500 worth of CDs and a pack of cigarettes were taken. An incident of attempted shoplifting occurred at Alco in Caledonia on Tuesday, August 27 at 1:24 p.m. An employee reported that an 8-year old boy had lifted a fishing tool valued at $9.99. When the boy was leaving the store with his mother, the employee asked for the tool, which was then reluctantly returned by the boy. Alco declined to press charges. A Caledonia woman reported the theft of her baby stroller on Friday, August 30. The stroller was taken, she believes, between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m., and was described as being blue in color and decorated with bunnies. Car fire on Highway 26 The Hokah fire department responded to a car fire on State Hwy. 26 near CSAH 7 on Sunday, September 1 at 6:48 p.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. After the blaze was extinguished, the car was then towed to Houston. No further information was available.
