Luella I. McWain, 99, of Caledonia, MN, formerly of Galesville, WI, and La Crosse, WI, died Sunday, September 8, 2002, at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. She was born April 28, 1903, in La Crosse to Otto and Alma (Mittlebach) Bolduan. Luella was a graduate of Galesville High school. She taught country school in the Arcadia and Independence areas for three years. On June 16, 1926, Luella married Gerald McWain and together they farmed in the Galesville area for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville, where she served on the ladies aid. Luella was also a member of the Trempealeau County Homemakers. On October 26, 1954, Gerald preceded Luella in death. She then moved to La Crosse and was employed at Lutheran Hospital until her retirement. Luella joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Crosse, where she was also a member of the church ladies aid. In 1995, she moved to Caledonia. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Patty; a son-in-law, Ralph Schoh; and two brothers, William and Lawrence Bolduan. Services will be Wednesday, September 11, 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1201 Avon St., La Crosse, with Pastor Mark Bartling officiating. Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery, Holmen. Friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
