Vandals sought in connection with smashings

Caledonia Police were contacted on March 24 after a Caledonia man reported that his truck had sustained damaged from rocks that had been thrown at it.

Duane Strub told authorities that the passenger side window of his Ford truck had been shattered and the passenger door had been dented. He believes the incident to have occurred sometime between the evening of March 23 and the morning of March 24.

The March 24 vandalism is one of several such incidents in the area in recent weeks. Caledonia Police have placed the matter under investigation.

The Sheriffís Office also received complaints of rocks being thrown at vehicles on March 24. Chris McCallson of La Crescent reported that, while he was driving along State Hwy. 16 between Millers Corner and La Crescent just before 8 a.m., a rock had broken his windshield. Later that day, Matthew McCallson of Hokah reported that a rock had been thrown at his vehicle on State Hwy. 16 just south of La Crescent. No further information was available.

Rollover on Hwy. 76

A juvenile Caledonia female was transported to the hospital and treated for injuries after a rollover on State Hwy. 76 just after 12 p.m. on March 30. The juvenile female was the sole occupant of a 1993 Chevy Cavalier.

Minnesota State Patrol conducted the investigation of the one-car accident, and determined that driver inattentiveness was the cause. The driver was believed to have over-corrected after having strayed off the road.

Theft in Wilmington

Blaine Liudahl, Spring Grove, reported to Houston County authorities on March 26 that his house and barn on CSAH 28 in Wilmington Township had been burglarized several times in the last month. Missing from the residence were a few small items, including a drill and a cot. The Houston County Sheriffís Office is conducting the investigation.
