Operation Round Up benefits CFD

Posted: 4/22/03

The Caledonia Fire Department received a check for $500 on April 14 from the Tri-County Electric Cooperative as part of the companyís Operation Round Up program.

Operation Round Up allows participating customers of TEC to have their monthly bills rounded up to the next highest dollar, with the donated money going to support local organizations within TECís service territory. For example, a memberís monthly bill of $72.74 would be automatically rounded up to $73.00, with the additional 26 cents going to the Operation Round Up fund.

Thus far, money has been used to help support the Spring Grove library, Brownsville Fire and Rescue, the Preston 4-H Extension Office, and Rushford Ambulance. Caledonia Fire Chief Chuck Gavin said the $500 donation will be used toward the purchase of new safety equipment, including coats and turnout gear.

ìAs the number of Tri-County Electric members who participate in the Operation Round Up program increases, additional funds will be made available for these types of worthy causes,î said Operation Round Up Board Chair Jim Rislove. ìMember participation is a backbone of this program.î

Member are encouraged to participate in this voluntary community support program, and can sign up by visiting Tri-County Electricís website at www.tec.coop or by calling 1-800-432-2285.
