Recycled Bike Art Show will be August 23

Posted: 8/19/03

Amazing! I wish I were that creative! Thatís made out of BIKE PARTS?!? These are some of the comments overhead at past Recycled Bike Art (REBART) shows in Houston. Join us on Saturday, August 23 to see what you have to say about this yearís show!

The day kicks off with Houstonís Farmers and Craft Market from 6:00 am to 12 noon in the Houston Nature Center parking lot. After youíve stocked up on fresh locally produced veggies, pies and other goodies, let the Houston Lions serve you a lunch of brats and sweet corn from 11am to 1pm. Eat your meal in style while listening to live music provided by the Houston Community Band under the direction of Christine Gustafson from 11:30 to 12:15. Be sure to get in your vote for your favorite REBART sculpture before the official awards presentation begins at 12:30 pm.

And when itís all over, donít go home--go for a bike ride on the Root River Trail and say ìhiî to Alice the (live) Great Horned Owl in the Nature Center. If you stick around long enough, youíll catch Uncle Bill Frutigerís campfire and storytelling program at 7pm.

This yearís REBART prizes are generously sponsored by Houston Hoedown, the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, Smith, Schafer and Associates, Wieser Brothers Construction, the Steel Recycling Institute, Tri-County Electric Cooperative, and Fortress Bank.

The Houston Nature Center is located one block north of the intersection of Hwys 16 & 76 in Houston in Trailhead Park. For more information, contact the Houston Nature Center at 507-896-4668 or nature@acegroup.cc.
