The Caledonia City Council viewed plans for a new housing development at its meeting of July 28.

The residential development is outside of the Caledonia city limits, but since it is within two miles, the city and the county must approve the plans.

John Esch and Gary Kruckow, representing Ma Cal Developers, showed the council plans for the housing development, which is north of the new school, across Highway 76, and adjacent to the present Sunset addition. An existing cul de sac in the Sunset addition will be extended westward to connect to the new development. The developers said that the development will be started as soon as finals approval is given by the county.

A discussion was held on access from highway 76. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has indicated that it wants no direct access from homes to Highway 76, which lies south and west of the proposed development.

The city voted its approval of the plans for the new development.

Public hearing to be held

on housing project

A public hearing has been scheduled for August 18 at 7:30 p.m. for another housing development west of the highway. Developers are Steve Bauer, Don Robley and Gary Becker. The development is known as ėDoering Estates î after its former owner, Bea Doering.
