School board approves new hiresPosted: 8/5/03 Staff and faculty contracts were approved for the 2003-04 school year at the ISD #299 school board meeting on July 28. ÑA contract for marching and pep band coach was offered to Robert ìGeneî Power of Spring Grove. Power will begin his first year at Caledonia High School this fall as the full-time instructor for concert and jazz band, a position he was hired for in the spring. Marching and pep band was eliminated at Caledonia High School in 2002-2003, but the school board promised that the program would be reinstated if district voters approved the operating levy referendum in December 2002. ÑScott Koepke, a teacher at Caledonia Elementary, was issued a contract for the head volleyball coach position at Caledonia High School. The position was held last year by Chris Miron, a physical education instructor in ISD #299. ÑCarl Fruechte was reissued a contract for the head football coach position. His contract is such that just under half his coaching salary is allotted to pay for three assistants at $500 per assistant. Kevin Klug, Derek Adamson, and Ernie Hodges were issued contracts for the assistant positions. ÑJohn Lukach was hired as the districtís network administrator. He is replacing Heidi Eldridge, who was the interim network administrator this past year. ÑThe school board accepted the resignations of Donald ìMikeî Strabley, an elementary school janitor, and Julie Wittry, a special education assistant at Caledonia Elementary.
