Three die in accident outside La Crescent

Three people were killed late Friday evening when a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Apple Blossom Drive between La Crescent and Dakota.

Daniel Lee and Wendy Michelle Thicke of rural La Crescent were on a motorcycle when they collided with a pickup driven by James Jay Heintz of La Crescent. The pickup burst into flames, and all three were found dead at the scene, according to the Winona County Sheriffís Department.

Minnesota State Patrol and the Winona County Sheriffís Department have placed the matter under investigation. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.

Daniel and Wendy Thicke were married in October 2002. Daniel Thicke, 28, is the son of Leon and Helen Thicke of rural La Crescent and was a 1993 graduate of La Crescent High School. Wendy Thicke, 27, is the daughter of Mike and Marcia Ryan of La Crescent and was a 1994 graduate of La Crescent High School.

James Heintz, 45, is the son of Les and Carol Heintz of Viroqua. He graduated from Caledonia High School in 1977. An obituary is on page 5.
